The early years of my life were spent in what you could call a decidedly unreligious home in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. My father was raised Catholic and decided early on that he wanted no part in religion. Through the persistent witnessing of a friend at work, however, and the work of the Holy Spirit in his life, he accepted Christ. At that point we became a decidedly Christian home. We went to no fewer than three church services a week, and as a small child I assumed that was all I needed. The turning point came when a six year old friend of mine was saved, and in telling me about it, asked when I had gotten saved. That got me to thinking, and soon after, I made my own decision to accept Christ as my Savior. At the age of twelve I dedicated my life to missions, but as I reached my teenage years I put that aside. I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer and make the big money. I even planned to go to a Christian college to begin my education. God simply would not let me forget my commitment, however, and during the summer following my senior year He led me to 1 Corinthians 9:16 "...woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel!" I changed my plans to align with His, and attended Ambassador Baptist College. I met my wife there, and we were married July 23, 1994. I graduated the next year and spent three years teaching (and being taught) at the Christian school at Mountain View Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. It is a great privilege to be in Christ’s service, and I look forward to spending the rest of my life serving Him. Keith Klaus
I was raised in a decidedly Christian home. My parents were both involved in ministry for most of my life. When I was a child, my father pastored a small church in Leeds, Alabama. As I grew, my mother was the director of a home for abused women and children, and my dad was the director of a home for alcohol and drug rehabilitation for men. For obvious reasons, I was more involved in my mother’s ministry, and as a teenager I worked there. Eventually I became the day care supervisor for the Hannah Home. As a small child I had made a profession of faith; however, for a very long time I doubted that profession. Throughout my teenage years I battled with doubts and basically made myself ineffective for service. Every time I went on soulwinning visitation, I would doubt. Every time a message about salvation, hell, or the second coming was preached, I doubted. Finally, my first year at Ambassador Baptist College, while attending a Bible class where the teaching was more preaching, I accepted Christ as my Savior, without a doubt. At about the same time, God began dealing with me about missions. I surrendered to go to the mission field and took as my life verse Isaiah 6:8, however I decided that I would go on a temporary basis and return to the States to teach, as had been my goal since childhood. Finally, after struggling for some time, I read the verse Isaiah 6:11, "Then said I, Lord, how long? And He answered, ‘til the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without land, and the land be utterly desolate....’" It was then I realized that the call of God on my life for missions was not a temporary thing, but a life goal. Shortly after that, I met my husband and we were married on July 23, 1994. I finished my degrees in Elementary Education and Missions and have been serving in my home church’s school ministry for the past four years. Julia Klaus
